1/ The wrap blouse
Chic? Always. Versatile? More than any other closet staple. Figure flattering? Of course. The wrap blouse has seen it’s fair share of press amongst the luxury shows over the years. But in 2018, it’s the ultimate style staple with the likes of Jacquemus, Alexander Wang and Diane von Furstenberg all delivering their own takes on the trend this summer. How to wear the wrap top? That’s the best thing about it. It lends itself to any occasion with just a couple of simple styling changes. Swap tailored pants at the office for denim for a low-key weekend lunch date.
2/ The chic two-piece
Does it get much chicer than a good co-ord? Call us bias, but we’re inclined to say no. Great things come in twos. It was a mantra which was nod to in many of this season’s runway shows. Our personal favorites? The feminine lace two-pieces that had a new-Frenchie feel about them. It was a trend that we loved so much, we decided to deliver our own contemporary take on it. Sensual in monochrome, this flirtatious duo makes for the perfect date-night drinks look. Just add a chic up-do, gold earrings and sophisticated red lips.
3/ The polka-dot dress
Stella McCartney, Dolce & Gabbana and MSGM are just a few of the high-fashion designers that delivered a refreshing take on polka-dots this season. Fashion’s favorite pretty print was treated to a progressive update with contemporary silhouettes and cool, unexpected details. And call us bias, but the Nelly smock dress from our latest collection delivers on all counts. It’s the kind of style that’s both perfectly attuned to weekend brunch dates and music festival dressing. Why not put your own spin on things when it comes to styling with your favorite statement accessories?
4/ The statement shirt
Couture proportions, unexpected details and larger-than-life sleeves, if you’re shirting isn’t of the statement variety this season, you’re missing out. The summer’s runways saw a serious injection of fun put into tailoring – finally! And it’s a balanced aesthetic that finds itself at the crossroads between smart and casual, making statement shirting just at home in the boardroom as it is the bar. It’s an obvious front-runner if you’re looking for a hard-working mix-and-match capsule collection. How you style it is totally your call…
5/ The floral maxi dress
Less of a seasonal trend and more of a certified closet classic, the floral dress is never far from fashion’s perimeter. In fact, it’s always pretty front and center. This season, why not elevate this style fixture with contemporary details like corsetry-inspired straps through the body, unique prints and modern cold-shoulder cuts. (We’ve fallen hard for all three, just FYI.) It promises to add some personality back into this perennial favorite.
